Job Description: Music Teacher

As a Music Teacher, you should be talented, passionate, and dedicated to introducing young learners to the world of music. You must be capable of delivering engaging and age-appropriate music lessons that foster a love for singing, rhythm, and instrumental practice. Your role also includes training students for school events and creating an inclusive musical environment. Maintaining an English-speaking atmosphere in the classroom and on campus is a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver music lessons that cater to the needs of primary school students.
• Teach basic concepts of vocal music, rhythm, melody, and musical notation.
• Introduce students to different musical instruments and encourage hands-on learning.
• Prepare students for musical performances during school functions, assemblies, and inter-school competitions.
• Cultivate an appreciation of various musical genres including Indian classical, folk, Western, devotional, and contemporary.
• Maintain musical instruments and ensure a safe and organized music room.
• Encourage self-expression, confidence, and teamwork through group singing and musical activities.
• Assess students’ progress and provide guidance to support their musical development.
• Collaborate with staff for integrating music into school-wide events and celebrations.
• Communicate with parents about students’ interest, participation, and progress in music.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music, Performing Arts, or a related field; formal training from a recognized music institute is preferred.
• Experience teaching music to children in a school setting, preferably under the ICSE/ISC curriculum.
• Proficiency in vocal music and familiarity with various instruments.
• Strong communication skills and classroom management abilities.
• Fluency in English and ability to maintain an English-speaking environment during instruction.
• Energetic and inspiring personality with a genuine passion for music education.
